Description

Possibly the most recognizable form of indigo cloth from West Africa

handcrafted decor that connects you with nature while supporting sustainable living

Bronze trade beads have a long history across West Africa as both currency and adornment

We source these from South African artists who have their own sculpturing stall and usually are restricted to selling local

so each piece varies naturally in tone and form

Makenge Basket - 100C Standing Possibly the most recognizable formA handwoven Makenge basket, a testament to the weaving skills of the Mbundu and Lozi people of Zambia. An original piece, traditionally used to sift the grains used in cooking you may still find a few grains embedded in the weave, a lovely mark of its authenticity. Beautiful as a wall piece or standing on a shelf or table. How they are made: the baskets are woven from the roots of the Makenge tree, a small tree that sends out very long, shallow roots.
