The governing equations are simple, and every dose below is auditable from them: Concentration: vial mg BAC water mL = mg/mL Draw volume: dose mg concentration (mg/mL) = mL Syringe units: mL 100 = units on a U-100 insulin syringe Worked example 1 the 10 mg vial (the reference build) Concentration: 10 mg 2 mL = 5 mg/mL Starting 2 mg dose: 2 mg 5 mg/mL = 0.40 mL On the syringe: 0.40 mL 100 = 40 units So a 2 mg starting dose from a 10 mg / 2 mL build is a clean 40-unit draw
